- Photocopy of passport
- Certificate of no impediment endorsed with an Apostille stamp along with a certified translation
- If you have been widowed, the death certificate of your former spouse authenticated by an Apostille
- If you are divorced, a decree absolute bearing the court's original stamp authenticated by an Apostille
- Deed Poll documents if you have changed your name
IMPORTANT NOTE: You will have to have all the above stated documents translated into Greek by an approved local translator (your local Greek Consulate can help you with this by providing you with some contacts) and certified by the local Greek Consulate at your home country, prior to having them (originals and certified translations) send over to us. We explain the procedure involved for your benefit and information here below: Once we receive your documents, we will then: - Arrange for an advertisement to be placed (for one day) in the local press, stating the concerned parties intention to marry, a copy of which is displayed at the Town Hall for 8 days, according to the Greek Law. Another copy of this ad is also saved for your benefit and use.
- Submit for and on your behalf the documents to the local Registrar's Office to apply for your civil wedding license. This has to be done, according to the Greek Law minimum three months in advance of your proposed wedding date. A stamp duty and a license fee are payable at this stage that is why we normally require at least 50% of the total wedding fee to be paid to us in advance.
- Within 2 weeks of the documents being submitted, your wedding license is issued, which is always valid for the next 6 months. Your wedding may take place as soon as the license is issued.
- With all the documents and the newly issued wedding licence in hand, we submit it to the local Town Hall to have your proposed civil wedding date confirmed and booked.
- Your civil wedding takes place at at the local Town Hall in the presence of 2 witnesses (we will stand in for you in case you haven't any with you).
CATHOLIC WEDDING - 1.Photocopy of passport. (1 copy for each person)
- 2.Catholic faith certificate (1 copy for each person) Issued by your local Chaplainry.
- 3.Certification that neither party has previously been married.
- 4.Copy of Birth Certificate for each applicant
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Parties concerned must inform their Chaplainry in writing of their intention to marry. The proposed wedding date must be set in order to obtain certificates that they are both baptised Catholics and that they have not been previously married. As soon as these certificates are obtained, our office will submit them to the local Catholic Church and confirm a wedding date.
- These documents must be procured by the parties concerned. Our office makes the necessary arrangements and deal with the church on their behalf.
- The originals and not photocopies are required.
